The Phoenix Suns are focused on resigning Steve Nash to an extension this summer, though Nash has said that if an agreement was not reached, he would not mind be traded to the New York Knicks.
“I would preface it by saying that I love Phoenix and that’s what I’m focusing on right now,” Nash said. “But I live in New York City, and I love it there, and Mike D’Antoni was one of my favorite coaches. If it didn’t work out in Phoenix, obviously that would be a place I’d consider.”
Nash is a two-time MVP, but at 35 years old last season, he averaged a career high 3.35 turnovers a game.
The Charlotte Bobcats are interested in adding either former Dallas Maverick Brandon Bass or former Detroit Piston Antonio McDyess via free agency this off-season.
A power forward that can bring toughness to the front line would be a key piece in putting Charlotte in contention for a latter playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The New Orleans Hornets are also interested in Bass.
After losing Hedo Turkoglu, who had committed to the team, to the Toronto Raptors, restricted free agent David Lee of the New York Knicks has become their top priority.
“We had been talking, but we’ll talk now,” Lee’s agent Mark Bartlestein told The New York Post last night.
The Blazers have long lusted after Lee, who also seeks $10 million per season, exactly the amount the Blazers are under the cap. Bartlestein said because Lee is restricted, the Blazers were fearful of waiting 10 days to see if the Knicks would match and instead jumped at the surer thing in Turkoglu.
The Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons are also said to be seriously interested in Lee’s services.
Free agent point guard Jannero Pargo meet with the Chicago Bulls earlier today. Pargo played with the Bulls from 2003-2006.
Pargo’s agent referred to the confrontation as a “Great Meeting.”
Jannero would give Chicago some added bench scoring from the wing position that Ben Gordon provided. Gordon recently agreed to terms with the Detroit Pistons.
Pargo’s most recent NBA club, the New Orleans Hornets, are also said to be interested in signing him.
Jannero averaged eight points and two assists backing up Chris Paul two seasons ago.
Multiple NBA sources report that Allen Iverson has expressed interest in joining the Memphis Grizzlies.
Iverson would join a steady backcourt with Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo if the team was to sign him.
The Grizzlies had no comment on Iverson’s desire to play with them.
